We have an exciting opportunity to join a hardworking, friendly Chef in our modern state of the art kitchen ! Our Barnet Nursery are recruiting a Kitchen Assistant working 30 hours per week, Monday – Friday afternoon (10pm – 5pm) all year round (50 weeks a year).
This role involves supporting the full time Nursery Chef to prepare and cook meals for our children, as well as helping to maintain our 5 star Food Hygiene rating.

Duties:
- Support chef ensuring that all kitchen equipment is clean and well-maintained .
- Follow food safety protocols to maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment.
- To support/assist the Nursery Chef in ensuring a high standard of catering with all food being prepared for the children through following the policies, procedures, legislative guidelines and relevant instructions as set out by the Nursery.
- To complete advanced Food Hygiene Certificate
Requirements of Kitchen Assistant role:
- Good understanding of the importance of health and hygiene
- Experience in a kitchen environment (nursery or school settings desirable)
- Clear DBS
- Understanding of catering for special diets, allergies and intolerances
- Strong communication skills
- Good timekeeping and organisational skills
- An enthusiastic, flexible, can do attitude
- Ability to work quickly but efficiently.
- Ability to work well in a team
