We have an exciting opportunity to join a hardworking, friendly Chef in our modern state of the art kitchen ! Our Barnet Nursery are recruiting a Kitchen Assistant working 30 hours per week, Monday – Friday afternoon (10pm – 5pm) all year round (50 weeks a year).

This role involves supporting the full time Nursery Chef to prepare and cook meals for our children, as well as helping to maintain our 5 star Food Hygiene rating.

      Duties:

  • Support chef ensuring that all kitchen equipment is clean and well-maintained .
  • Follow food safety protocols to maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment.
  • To support/assist the Nursery Chef in ensuring a high standard of catering with all food being prepared for the children through following the policies, procedures, legislative guidelines and relevant instructions as set out by the Nursery.
  • To complete advanced Food Hygiene Certificate

     

      Requirements of Kitchen Assistant role:

  • Good understanding of the importance of health and hygiene
  • Experience in a kitchen environment (nursery or school settings desirable)
  • Clear DBS
  • Understanding of catering for special diets, allergies and intolerances
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good timekeeping and organisational skills
  • An enthusiastic, flexible, can do attitude
  • Ability to work quickly but efficiently.
  • Ability to work well in a team
